Vegfest
Vegfest was a big hit, in my personal opinion. It is one of the largest vegetarian festivals in America that was held on March 29th and 30th, 2008 at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. There were about 700 food samples to choose from, and I was totally stuffed with varieties of vegetarian food at the festival. Chefs like Caroline Dupont, Bryanna Clark Grogan, Louise Hagler, Chat Mingkwan, Heather Reseck, and Sunita Shastri were part of this two day event. If you liked a food sample there was the option to buy it at the event. Most of the food samples served are available at PCC and Whole Foods although there were some unique items like vegan caviar made from seaweed. As a volunteer, I was given a video orientation by Caryn Pierce, volunteer co-ordinator, for about thirty minutes. After that I walked into the Hall to wear the Vegfest T- shirt provided for all volunteers. We worked for a little over four hours.
Some people who volunteered for eight hours or more received restaurant coupons for four. The energy was high at the booths and samples were being tried by young and old alike. There was a section for Kid's to taste samples. Many vegetarian and vegan cookbooks were available for sale.
On Sunday the speakers were Dr. Chris Kozura, who talked about the Natural way to good Health in the morning, Dr. Keith Hanson who spoke about Preventing and Reversing Key Diseases, Dr. Esther Park Hwang gave a talk on the wellness for women later in the afternoon, and Dr. Tim Riesenberger who talked about Defeating Diabetes in the evening.
Some of the sponsors of this event were Vegetarian Times Magazine, Conscious Talk radio, Organics USA, Think Products, Bumble Bar, Alive Inn, PCC Natural Markets, PAWS, Cafe Flora etc.
A great way to help out and spend quality time at a vegetarian event.
Happy Cooking!

I was at VegFest on Sunday as well and LOVED it!! So cool you were able to volunteer, I'd love to do that if things like, oh, KIDS and work and such didn't get in the way! Regardless, it was a fun day.
I like your blog too!
Thanks Tofu Mom for your comment.
