Bittergourd side dish

Bittergourd is on the menu today.

It is also called bittermelon or bittersquash. It is slightly bitter in taste as the name suggests, so kids and sometimes even adults shy away from it. Traditionally, it was used to prevent malaria, dysentery and painful menstruation.
Karela is the side dish today. Rinse, chop and cook till tender with spices. Eat with chapati.
