Medhu Wadas

I was in the mood for making medhu wadas. Make the batter; urad dal flour with rice flour, salt and adding some water and slowly mixing the contents. In Southern part of India, Medhu wadas are quite a popular snack, although these days it is enjoyed everywhere.

In a pan, pour vegetable oil till about 1/3rd full. Warm on medium heat and add the small balls of batter in the oil, fry for a minute or two till they turn to a golden brown.

Flip the dumplings with a slotted spoon, one by one, and fry on the other side for a couple of minutes.

When they are cooked on both sides remove them on to a plate. Serve crisp dumplings warm with your favorite chutney. Coconut chutney goes well with it. You can also cook sambhar, pour over the wadas to enjoy softer dumplings.
